From Prayer to Intercession

Isn’t it amazing that an all-powerful, all-knowing, all-present God who created the universe would pick ordinary people, you and me, to partner with Him in a dynamic prayer life? When we really stop and think about this, it is awe inspiring that our heavenly Father desires us to pray in agreement with Him.

I will never forget the first time I heard the Lord direct me specifically concerning the call to intercede for lost souls. I was kneeling in prayer and asking the Holy Spirit to fill and to guide me. Instantly, I felt a powerful and all-consuming presence flood over me from the top of my head to the soles of my feet. I was embraced in the presence of the Holy Spirit and felt Him filling my spirit to overflowing. I was overcome. I had never felt anything so wonderful. I prayed, “Lord, please don’t let this presence ever leave me.”

After several minutes, the Lord showed me a vision. Amazed to be receiving such clear revelation from the Lord, I sat quiet and still. He was speaking to me and I knew His voice. My heart raced and tears streamed down my face.

In the vision I was standing on a platform surrounded by thousands and thousands of people. They were extending their hands to touch mine, and I was reaching out to touch each of them. I was reaching for as many hands as I could. I did not understand what this meant, so I asked the Lord, “What is this You are showing me?”

He answered with a question; “Becca, will you be accountable for the souls I have assigned to you? Will you reach them for Me?” I did not understand the fullness of what He was asking me, I did know at that moment, however, that the Lord had put His hand on Greg and me, and that our lives were going to change quickly. He had a purpose for us, but we needed training. I responded the only way I knew: “Yes, Lord, show me how.”

This experience has been the driving force of my prayer life, and also the foundational pillar of partnering with the Lord in intercession. I began to pray regularly for the salvation of lost souls, for family members, our neighbors, the cities in which we lived, and the nations of the world. Since that time, we have traveled to 33 nations and ministered throughout the United States. Many people have come to know Jesus. We see people delivered and set free on a regular basis. But this is not enough. Our hearts are full of passion to see the transformation of our nation and the nations of the world. We want our lost world reached with the message of the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Once we are truly captivated by Him and His love, we will always hunger for more. And, as I grow in Him, more revelation comes concerning the call to fulfill our responsibilities as Kingdom representatives. There is a lost, struggling, and dying world that needs each of us on our knees in intercession.
